Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1

What are peptides?

Accepted Answer

Peptides are short chains of amino acids — the building blocks of proteins. They occur naturally in the body and play a critical role in signalling between cells, regulating hormones, and supporting tissue repair. Research peptides are synthetic versions of these compounds, produced for scientific and laboratory investigation.

Question 2

Are these peptides for human consumption?

Accepted Answer

No. All products sold by Helixa are strictly for research and laboratory use only. They are not intended for human or animal consumption, and are not approved by the TGA or any regulatory body for therapeutic use. By purchasing, you confirm you are a qualified researcher using these compounds in a controlled laboratory setting.

Question 3

What is the difference between peptides and steroids?

Accepted Answer

Peptides are amino acid chains that work by binding to receptors and triggering natural biological processes — they do not alter DNA or hormone production in the same way anabolic steroids do. Most research peptides are water-soluble, have shorter half-lives, and operate through different signalling pathways than steroidal compounds.

Question 4

How should research peptides be stored?

Accepted Answer

Lyophilised (freeze-dried) peptides should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct light — ideally at 2–8°C in a refrigerator. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, they should be kept refrigerated and used within 28 days. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, which can degrade peptide integrity.

Question 5

How do I reconstitute a lyophilised peptide?

Accepted Answer

Using a sterile syringe, slowly inject bacteriostatic water (BAC water) into the vial along the side of the glass — do not inject directly onto the powder. Gently swirl (do not shake) until fully dissolved. The volume of BAC water used will determine the concentration of your solution. Helixa supplies pharmaceutical-grade BAC water for this purpose.

Question 6

What is bacteriostatic water and why do I need it?

Accepted Answer

Bacteriostatic water (BAC water) is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which inhibits bacterial growth and extends the shelf life of reconstituted peptides. It is the recommended diluent for most research peptides. Using plain sterile water is possible but reduces the usable window of the reconstituted solution significantly.

Question 7

How do I calculate dosing for research purposes?

Accepted Answer

Use the Helixa Peptide Calculator at /calculator to determine the volume required for a given dose based on your vial size and the volume of BAC water used. For example, a 10mg vial reconstituted with 2mL of BAC water yields a 5mg/mL solution — 0.1mL would then equal 500mcg.

Question 8

What equipment do I need for peptide research?

Accepted Answer

Standard laboratory equipment includes insulin syringes (typically 1mL with 29–31 gauge needles), bacteriostatic water, alcohol swabs, and appropriate storage containers. All reconstitution and handling should be performed under sterile conditions in a suitable research environment.

Question 9

Are Helixa peptides third-party tested?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every batch of Helixa peptides undergoes independent third-party testing for purity, identity, and potency. We use accredited analytical laboratories to verify that each product meets our minimum 98%+ purity standard before it is made available for sale. Certificates of Analysis (CoA) are available for every product.

Question 10

Where can I find Certificates of Analysis?

Accepted Answer

CoA documents are available on the Certificates page at /certificates. You can view the current batch CoA for each product, or submit a request for a specific batch certificate using the form on that page. We maintain records for all batches and can provide documentation on request.

Question 11

What purity standard do your products meet?

Accepted Answer

All Helixa products are manufactured to a minimum 98% purity as verified by HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) and mass spectrometry analysis. These are the same analytical methods used in pharmaceutical-grade research settings.

Question 12

How are your peptides manufactured?

Accepted Answer

Our peptides are synthesised using solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) in GMP-compliant facilities. Each batch is lyophilised (freeze-dried) to maximise stability and shelf life, then sealed under nitrogen in pharmaceutical-grade vials to prevent oxidation and contamination.

Question 13

How do I place an order?

Accepted Answer

Browse the shop at /shop, add products to your cart, and proceed to checkout. We accept all major credit and debit cards via our secure Stripe-powered checkout. You will receive an order confirmation email immediately after payment, and a shipping notification once your order has been dispatched.

Question 14

What payment methods do you accept?

Accepted Answer

We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express via our secure Stripe checkout. All transactions are processed in AUD and encrypted using industry-standard TLS. We do not store card details — all payment data is handled directly by Stripe.

Question 15

Can I modify or cancel my order after placing it?

Accepted Answer

Orders can be modified or cancelled within 1 hour of placement, provided they have not yet been picked and packed. Please contact us immediately via the contact form if you need to make changes. Once an order has been dispatched, it cannot be cancelled or redirected.

Question 16

Is my personal information secure?

Accepted Answer

Question 17

Where do you ship to?

Accepted Answer

We currently ship within Australia only. All orders are dispatched from our Australian fulfilment centre. International shipping is not available at this time.

Question 18

How long does delivery take?

Accepted Answer

Standard delivery within Australia typically takes 3–7 business days depending on your location. Express shipping options may be available at checkout. Remote and regional areas may experience slightly longer delivery windows.

Question 19

How is my order packaged?

Accepted Answer

All peptide vials are packed in insulated packaging with appropriate cold-chain protection to maintain product integrity during transit. Orders are shipped in discreet, unmarked outer packaging with no indication of contents on the exterior.

Question 20

What happens if my order arrives damaged?

Accepted Answer

If your order arrives damaged or with compromised packaging, please photograph the damage and contact us within 48 hours of delivery. We will assess the situation and arrange a replacement or refund where appropriate. Do not use any product that appears to have been compromised during transit.

Question 21

Do you provide tracking?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Once your order is dispatched, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with a tracking number. You can also view your order status and tracking information at any time from your account dashboard at /account.

Question 22

Is it legal to purchase research peptides in Australia?

Accepted Answer

The legal status of research peptides in Australia varies by compound and intended use. Many peptides are unscheduled for research purposes, while others may be scheduled under the Therapeutic Goods Act. It is your responsibility to understand and comply with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction. Helixa sells exclusively for legitimate research purposes.
